Teeth whitening is a type of cosmetic dentistry treatment that strives to get rid of any existing dental stains and make your teeth look whiter and brighter. The main advantage of the teeth whitening treatment is that it is capable of recovering the most lucid shade of our teeth. This is always based on the original tonality of each person.

The classification of teeth whitening derives from the tooth on which the procedure will apply. There are 2 types of teeth that we can treat with a teeth whitening procedure. These are vital and non-vital teeth.

There are many different ways to approach the teeth whitening process. You can get this process at our clinic by applying a 35% hydrogen peroxide-based whitening agent, which we activate with a light source. It is advisable to previously carry out prophylaxis and check that your oral cavity is healthy. After this step, we can take measures to avoid contact with the bleaching agent with the soft tissue in the mouth to avoid irritation at the site.

On the other hand, we also carry out the whitening of non-vital teeth at our dental clinic, but it consists of the elimination of each of the bleaching agents and necrotic tissues existing in the pulp chamber of endodontic teeth. There are two different methods for whitening non-vital teeth, and each can provide dramatically different results.

The more immediate method consists of using a mix of sodium perborate and hydrogen peroxide. After this process, the whitening results are almost immediately visible. On the other hand, there is also the ambulatory technique. Here, apply a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and sodium perborate to the tooth. Next, we place a temporary filling on the surface of the tooth. Overall, this is a more time-consuming process.

Teeth whitening is a great option for those who want to smile confidently and restore the appearance of their teeth to their former glory. If you want to know more about the different procedures, please contact us today.
