Importance Of Receiving Oral Hygiene Examinations
We are happy to treat your entire family for all of their oral health needs. When was the last time you visited our office for an oral hygiene examination and cleaning? If it has been over six months, you are due for a visit. We recommend that our adult patients visit our office for a routine appointment every four to six months, depending on the state of their oral health and any dental conditions they have. Our teen and youth patients should visit every six months.
What If I Clean My Teeth Well?
Even if you have an outstanding oral hygiene routine and clean your teeth perfectly, we still recommend that you visit us for routine examinations. During these visits, we clean your teeth and check for oral health problems, such as decay, gum disease, and oral cancer. Routine examinations give us a chance to check on your previous treatments to ensure everything is intact and functioning properly. We also look for cracks and chips in your teeth and any other issues that may need repairing.
Each time you eat and drink, bacteria are introduced into the mouth. Even if you clean your teeth well, there is still a chance that some bacteria-laden plaque will accumulate between your teeth and along the gumline. During the cleaning portion of the examination, we remove all plaque and tartar we find on your teeth.
Dangers of Postponing Visits
Dental problems do not heal on their own. The longer you go between visits, the more likely you are to experience complications with your oral health. If you have a problem with your teeth or gums, you may experience discomfort or even have a dental emergency. We would hate for that to happen during this time of year.
We encourage you to contact our office, which is located in Charlotte, NC, to schedule an oral hygiene examination for yourself and your loved ones. We can also schedule any treatment appointments you need. We look forward to seeing you soon!
